Homelite is a a power tool manufacturer that has been around for many years. Its two-cycle engine chainsaws do not look much different than the products of its competitors. Often the body consists of a day glow orange paint that makes the saw easier to spot in theory. Over time, the outer cover becomes layered with dirt and grime and the user can no longer rely on the day glow colors to provide what little safety the color provided originally. Cleaning the unit helps slightly, as does repainting the case, if the owner knows how.

Homelite chainsaws are not intended for heavy use in most cases. A person who needs to clear some brush for a cabin or cut some firewood for his home will find it a valuable tool, but a person looking for a piece of logger’s equipment may have to find the something a little heavier to suit his needs. Although the manufacturer catered to the needs of the home user, it does make industrial models as well.

Unless a person has the XL 500 model, a homelite chainsaw is easy to find parts for. It is also fairly easy to maintain and repair. As long as the owner stores the unit property, it can last through many months of disuse when it gets stored in a cabin shed.
